SNYP is opening a low-cost spay/neuter clinic!

In August of 2018, SNYP was approached with an opportunity to start a low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Our goal was to relieve the pressures created by SNYP programs on the local veterinary clinics while being able to continue offering low-cost spay/neuter services to the community.

After much research and soul searching SNYP will be opening a spay/neuter clinic at 111 N. Pacific Hwy in Talent Oregon. The clinic will be the only standalone low-cost spay/neuter clinic in a four-county area.

Our projected opening date will be in the first quarter of 2019.

Having a dedicated spay/neuter clinic will allow SNYP to:

  • Increase the number of surgeries performed annually
  • Continue to serve the underserved population in Jackson County
  • Expand our services to neighboring Josephine, Klamath and Siskiyou counties
  • Grow our community (feral and stray) cat services
  • Support shelters spay/neuter before adoption needs in three counties
  • Introduce new spay/neuter services for specialty breeds such as Pit Bulls

SNYP is presently conducting a national search for a veterinarian specifically trained in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) procedures. The clinic remodel is nearing completion and our lead veterinary technician, Sabrina Sandoval, and board president Sally Mackler are visiting spay/neuter clinics across Oregon and Northern California to further our knowledge base.

SNYP has applied for a number of grants and has entered our fundraising phase of the project.  Start-up costs are budgeted at $90,000. This figure includes medical equipment, instruments, kennels, medical and non-medical consumables, licensing, and construction costs.

Pricing and a detailed list of services are being finalized and will be posted on the SNYP website as we get closer to our opening date.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Jackson County veterinary community for over 20 years of support. These dedicated clinics made the SNYP programs possible for the past two decades and we are forever grateful.
